Multiscale physics of living systems
Multiscale physics of living systems

Welcome!
I am a biophysicist interested in self-organization phenomena in living systems. From cells to organisms, living systems are inherently multiscale. To understand the biophysical principles of living systems across scales, my group uses concepts from soft matter, nonlinear and out-of-equilibrium physics in close collaboration with experimentalists.
“Biology is not an excuse for doing physics with the names on the variables changed—there are too many interesting questions.”

Collaborators
We are part of the Computational Biology and Complex Systems (BIOCOMSC) research group in UPC. We work with close collaboration with experimentalists on topics such as cell biology, biophysics, tissue engineering and synthetic morphogenesis. Some of the current collaborators are:
- Vikas Trivedi, Self-organization in multicellular systems (EMBL Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain)
- Keisuke Ishihara, Physical principles of tissue self-organization (University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, USA)
Join us
If you would like to join us please visit the BIOCOM-SC website for funding opportunities (Bachelor thesis, Master thesis, PhD and postdoc). We also offer postdoc positions through the EIPOD-LinC Fellowship programme (3 years) to work together with another group in EMBL Barcelona. The main PhD funding sources in Spain are the FPU program , the FI program or the "la Caixa": INPhINIT fellowships (3 years).
